We highlight three grant opportunities from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that focus on health science topics also of interest to NIAID.

NIAID seeks innovative research on innate and adaptive immune responses induced by mycobacterial infection, Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine, or other Mycobacterium tuberculosis vaccinations.

NIAID invites principal investigators to request additional funds to hire a mid-to-senior level technician at a full-time or part-time level of effort to help maintain an eligible postdoctoral scientist’s projects when he or she is required to be away from the lab to fulfill caregiver obligations.

For the first time in 22 years, Congress passed the HHS budget appropriation before the start of the fiscal year.

NIH issued a competitive revisions (Type 3) funding opportunity announcement to accept urgent award applications whenever an NIH institute or center publishes an Urgent Award Notice to define an urgent need in response to a public health crisis.

All NIH new (including renewals) and continuation awards beginning on or after October 1, 2018, are subject to the new final regulations of the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980.
